China in your Hands
Following an insatiable demand for English teachers in China, Gap Year for Grown Ups (www.inspiredbreaks.co.uk) has put together an exciting new programme for adventurous adults keen to experience this fascinating country, and get paid for it.
Unlike other programmes ‘Teach & Travel China' does not demand previous teaching experience, as training for the teaching assistant posts is given in an intensive 4 week course held in Beijing.
The 4 - week training programme will also include Mandarin lessons and information about living and working in China; the customs, the culture and the rules. The training programme gives candidates a chance to meet other similar-minded people, and to discuss where they will be staying and who they will be teaching.
Candidates will be placed in top private schools all over the country and may change schools throughout the year, if they wish. The students' ages range from 4 - 18 years, and individual preferences will be taken in to account. There are three start dates a year, and if couples wish to travel and teach together this can usually be organised too.
Gap Year for Grown Ups Director David Stitt predicts that the new ‘Teach & Travel China' programme, beginning in Jan 2006, will be very popular. “It will appeal to those who really want to understand the Chinese culture and make a positive contribution to the community. Candidates are also paid for their work and have a great opportunity to explore China in their spare time.”
Gap Year for Grown ups is based in Tunbridge Wells and specialises in time out for adults aged 30+.
Ends. September 2005.
