Offset your carbon emissions!
Use the Climate Care calculator to offset your carbon emissions created by flying.
Recent press exposure has helped raise concerns over climate change and the adverse effects it will have on the planet and all that inhabit it. It is hard to ignore distressing images of the millions plagued by famine as a result of drought and subsequent crop failure, or footage of polar bears drowning as the polar ice caps melt around them.
But how many of you recall these images when you fly off on your summer holidays? Flying releases huge quantities of carbon dioxide and other harmful gases responsible for climate change, into the atmosphere. The flight you make will, without a doubt, have a far greater impact on the environment than any other aspect of your trip.
As a traveller, we encourage you to take responsible travel seriously and make a personal contribution that will help to limit the impact of flying on the environment. One way we encourage you to do this is by offsetting your carbon emissions. This is a process that calculates the amount of carbon dioxide your flight will produce, and then arranges for this amount to be reduced for you via a number of energy efficient projects committed to the use of renewable energy sources. In other words, it is a way of cancelling out the damage your flight is directly doing to our planet.
As a company, we are in partnership with Climate Care, and together we can help you offset your carbon emissions if you chose to do so. The energy efficient projects being developed are not only helping to save the environment and combat climate change, but also benefit many communities worldwide.
We have partnered with Climate Care to help you to do this, as they will offset your carbon emissions for you, through a range of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. These projects often benefit communities around the world, as well as combating climate change and include:
- The restoration of Uganda's rainforests
- The introduction of energy efficient cookers into many underprivileged homes in Honduras
- The installation of energy efficient lights in some of South Africa's poorest households
- The introduction of man-powered pumps in place of diesel pumps, for the use of crop irrigation in India
The flight calculator below enables you to enter your flight details to work out the total emissions from your flights and the amount that you will need to contribute to offset these.
