There are a variety of Nepal career break projects to choose from including teaching in schools and orphanages, teaching in a monastery and learning Buddhism, or working on construction projects.
Teaching in a local school
This project area allows you to work with children and make a positive contribution to the local communities. The children are very keen to learn English as this can enhance their future employment prospects.
Teaching in a monastery
Please note, due to the nature of the monasteries, women must commit to a minimum of 4 weeks if they choose this option. This project is ideal if you all ready have an interest in Buddhism, or would like to learn more about it. Your main role is to teach English to the monks and to Tibetan children for 3-4 hours per day as well as extra curricular actives and administration.
Whilst working in one of Nepal’s childcare homes, you will assist with teaching English as well as supporting the children with the aim of motivating and enriching their lives.
Please note: In September/October the Nepalese celebrate the Dashain Festival which is the biggest festival in the country. The second biggest festival is the Tihar festival which is generally celebrated between the 17th and 19th October. Please be aware that your programme, activities and itinerary may be subject to change at any time but particularly over any public holidays or festivals.
