Book and experience your inspired break

India is one of the world's poorest countries and many people decide they'd like to volunteer in India in order to ‘give something back.' If you would like to volunteer in India on a gap year or career break Real Gap has some extremely worthwhile volunteer projects in three very different areas of India.
Volunteer in India - By the sea
If you volunteer in India with Real Gap's Goa Volunteer Programme you will be doing some hugely rewarding volunteer work in the beautiful beach region of Goa. When you volunteer in India on this programme you can help out in a number of ways - from working as a teaching assistant to caring for patients at an Aids hospice. Voluntary work in India is a great way to immerse yourself in the local culture and you are certain to meet other like-minded backpackers too. When you volunteer in India on Real Gap's ‘Goa' programme you also get the opportunity to learn the arts of yoga and meditation in an Ashram and experience a three-day wildlife trek through a remote part of India.
Volunteer in India - In the desert
You can also experience life in the desert when you volunteer in India with Real Gap's Rajasthan Volunteer Programme. This ‘Volunteer in India' option is based in the unique desert setting of Rajasthan. If you want to volunteer on a career break in India on one of Real Gap's most ‘hard core' and challenging programmes then this is the one for you. If you want to volunteer in India working with children this is also a good option as volunteers either help out at a child-care centre or assist with teaching in a local school. As with all of Real Gap's programmes throughout the world, if you volunteer in India there's plenty of scope for travelling and activities away from the voluntary work. If you volunteer in India with Real Gap's ‘Rajasthan' programme some of the thing you will get up to include - going on a camel safari, yoga tuition and a home-stay in the fabulous ‘pink city' of Jaipur.
Volunteer in India - Beneath the Himalayan Mountains
If you volunteer in India with Real Gap's Himachal Pradesh Volunteer Programme the Himalayas provide a stunning natural backdrop. When you volunteer in India on this project the emphasis is also on providing much-needed care to disadvantaged children: working in a child day-care centre, as an English teacher or at a school for children with special needs. Other than the sense of reward and personal achievement gained from the volunteer work the undoubted highlight of this programme is a three-day trek through the Himalayan mountains.
